What is a Wicked Problem, you ask?
If there is a problem where the solution requires a great number of people to change their mindsets and behaviours, it is more than likely a wicked problem. It also could get very messy. We like wicked problems because they can be the spark for positive, inclusive disruption.
Global sustainability has been on the international agenda for decades, and yet long-term change has been difficult to achieve. In our world, challenges are becoming more wicked, complex, and interconnected and change is happening at a constant and often unprecedent rate. Collaboration, co-creating and co-production are needed to achieve faster and more impactful outcomes. Countries, governments, corporations, and organisations need to respond to these rapidly changing and dynamic circumstances with strategically resilient, adaptive, and innovative sustainable development solutions.
Strategic resilience and innovation help generate wicked solutions!
Strategic resilience and innovation can be used to solve wicked, complex problems, transforming the way organisations develop products, services, processes, and strategies.
Innovation is a collective achievement. It is both a catalyst and connector for people to imagine and create their own solutions to complex challenges. We believe that innovation happens through practical exploration, problem-solving, co-creation and experimentation. The science of innovation shows that breakthroughs happen when different ideas and perspectives clash, collide and co-mingle in a continual process of learning, failing, and adapting; attributes which are common to innovation, strategic resilience, and sustainable development.
Given the urgency for action, we want to provide a place and space to look at how innovation, transformation and strategic resilience are critical building blocks for sustainable impact.
We believe that small things can have a big impact to change our world. We want to nurture ideas from around the world and adapt them through a diversified toolkit that includes design thinking, systems innovation, data science, and challenge competitions. We want to explore whether there is a faster model through strategic resilience and innovation that creates new pathways to foster growth and socio-economic development, and generate wicked, resilient, and impactful solutions to global challenges.
